2 The Book Of The Words And Music Written And Composed For A Thanksgiving And Pageant To Be Held At Romsey Abbey And In Broadlands Park On June 25, 26 & 27, A.d. 1907 In Celebration of the Thousandth Anniversary of the Founding of Romsey Abbey by King Edward the Elder in the Year 907...
Romsey, England Mayor's Parlour / Town Hall 1907 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good
B&W Illustrations; Alternate title: Romsey Millenary Celebration A. D. 907-A. D. 1907. This book is in Very Good condition and was likely issued without a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book cover have some light bumping, with a noticeable bump to the top corners. The white cloth spine and corners have ground-in dirt. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers have noticeable generalized toning. The milenary (thousand year celebration) for Romsey Abbey included church services on three succeeding days, the first, the 25th of June, 1907 included a visit by H. R. H. Princess Louise and the Choristers of Romsey Abbey (with a sermon by the Bishop of Bristol) , the second day included music by the Royal Chapel of S. George's Windsor, and the third day (June 27th) , included a plain song service by the Choir of S. Alphege, Southwark. Also in the book is a potted history of the abbey, and the lyrics and sheet music for the event. "Our story covers ten centuries of English History. What vast changes have taken place in those thousand years! Languages have died out. Nations have risen and fallen. Empires have been founded and have passed away...." "Romsey Abbey is a parish church of the Church of England in Romsey, a market town in Hampshire, England. Until the dissolution it was the church of a Benedictine nunnery. It is now the largest parish church in the county since Christchurch Priory is now in Dorset. The church was originally built during the 10th century, as part of a Benedictine foundation. The surviving church is the town's outstanding feature, which is all the more remarkable because the abbey, as a nunnery, would have been less well financially endowed than other religious establishments of the time."

3 The Old Guard: A Monthly Magazine Devoted to Literature, Science and Art And the Political Principles of 1776 & 1860 Volume VI, 1868
New York Van Evrie, Horton & Co. , Publishers 1868 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good
B&W and Color Illustrations; This book is in Very Good condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book has three quarters leather binding and marbled paper covered boards. Each month has a full color, full sized illustrated plate at the beginning of the issue. In this case, each month's Illustration shows different ethnic groups - starting with Caucasian then following through Mongolian, Oceanic, American Indian, and more. "The Copperhead publication The Old Guard was a "monthly journal devoted to the principles of 1776 and 1787". Published in New York, by Burr, it attacked President Abraham Lincoln in every number, while defending slavery and the right of secession. It claimed to be "the only magazine published in the United States which is devoted to a fearless and uncompromising exposure of the monstrous crimes and frauds of the party in power." Lincoln was often referred to as "Abraham I"; the conflict was "the Lincoln War" fought by "the Abolition Army"." There is constant mention of "The Rump Congress" and the Rump Revolution. Most articles discuss the American Congress and discuss the problems of Abraham Lincoln. Other articles discuss politics or political science in the United States or elsewhere. There are hints that the sentiments of the editorial staff are pro-slavery.

Williams, AZ Rod's Steak House 1960 Ephemera Very Good+
(Advertising ephemera) an uncredited beef shaped menu from Rod's Steak House in Williams Arizona. Rod's Steak House was opened in 1946 and is on historic Route 66 - on the way to the Grand Canyon. Here's a bit about the history of Rod's from their website: " 'Rod,' or Rodney Graves, was born in Spruce Head, Maine in 1904. When Rod was eleven, he moved to California with his family. Later on he attended Stanford University. During the hardships of the twenties, he was forced to leave college. Since he was a lover of the great outdoors, it was natural for him to become a surveyor for the U.S. Coastal and Geodetic survey. His and his crew's names are inscribed on the altitude mark atop Mt. Lassen, from there they surveyed the California-Arizona-Mexico borders. After deciding to stay in Arizona, he bought and operated a small café in Seligman, a small community 48 miles west of Williams. This is where he met his future bride, Helen. After a short time, he sold this operation and set off for Phoenix and Helen, where she was a teacher. Helen and Rod were married in 1938. They both loved Northern Arizona, especially Williams and Prescott. After much deliberation, they decided Williams would be the site of their new home. Rod bought the Grand Canyon Tavern, which he operated for nearly seven years. During this business venture, Rod had determined a restaurant, perhaps a steak house was needed in town. He sold the tavern, and obtained the property to build and fulfill his dream." This cow shaped menu is in Very Good+ to Near Fine- condition and dates to c 1960's (A top sirloin steak was priced at 3.85, while ice cream would cost you a whopping .15cents). The interior of the card is a printed menu which was used as a semi-postcard by the former owner with two notations inked inside. The card itself is crisp and clean, with just a hint of rubbing.

Andre Fouilhoux that were together known as the Theme Center of the 1939 New York World's Fair. The Perisphere was a tremendous sphere, 180 feet in diameter, connected to the 610-foot (190 m) spire-shaped Trylon by what was at the time the world's longest escalator. The Perisphere housed a diorama by Henry Dreyfuss called Democracity which, in keeping with the fair's theme "The World of Tomorrow", depicted a utopian city-of-the-future. The interior display was viewed from above on a moving sidewalk, while a multi-image slide presentation was projected on the dome of the sphere. After exiting the Perisphere, visitors descended to ground level on the third element of the Theme Center, the Helicline, a 950-foot-long (290 m) spiral ramp that partially encircled the Perisphere."
