Color Illustrations; Children's Book. This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good+ dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have a bit of light bumping, rubbing and edge wear. Illustrated, paper covered boards have white and black lettering to front cover of book. Both top and bottom corners have some light, but noticable bumping and beginning wear. The spine ends have some beginning rubbing and light wear. The text pages are clean and bright. Illustrations alternate between full-color and black and white. The spine ends and corners of the dust jacket have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. The spine of the dust jacket is noticeably lightened / sunned (and it wraps around to the spine joints on both front and rear side a bit). The bottom spine end has a small triangular chip missing. There are several small edge tears to the dust jacket (flap joints & top spine end). Front spine joint of dust jacket has foxing. There is some generalized wrinkling and noticeable rubbing to dust jacket. Price on dust jacket is 50/50. "It was beautiful in the country. It was summertime! The wheat was yellow, the oats were green, the hay was stacked up in the green meadows, and the stork paraded about on his long red legs, discoursing in Egyptian, a language he had learned from his mother. All around the fields and meadows grew thick woods, and in the midst of this forest lay a deep lake. Yes, it was indeed beautiful country."

This book is the fourth book written and illustrated by Frank Asch (following George's Store, etc). This book tells the story of a man and his balloon through their adventures together in a book completely without words. Strangely, the balloon is green in color, though the blue might be refering to the balloon's temperament. "Frank Asch (born August 6, 1946 in Somerville, New Jersey) is an American children's writer, best known for his Moonbear picture books. In 1968, Asch published his first picture book, George's Store. The following year he graduated from Cooper Union with a BFA. Since then he has taught at a public school in India, as well as at a Montessori school in the United States, conducted numerous creative workshops for children. He has written over 60 books, including Turtle Tale, Mooncake, I Can Blink and Happy Birthday Moon. In 1989 he wrote Here Comes the Cat! In collaboration with Vladimir Vagin. The book was awarded the Russian National Book Award and was considered the first Russian-American collaboration on a children's book. Asch lived in Somerville, New Jersey."

The text pages are complete and in generally very good+ condition, however there are random spots of foxing throughout. The inner hinges have been reinforced. There is a former owner's inked name on the front pastedown page. "One day ant gave his good friend Bee a present. And that present was a beautiful umbrella."

The text pages are mostly clean and bright, but do have spots of foxing, and some bleeding of the color on the edges of the text block (all edges are colored with red ink). This is a good reading / starter copy - it is complete and readable, but is not the prettiest copy. This is book number 8 in the series of early readers featuring Ant and Bee. "One day Ant and Bee were flying in the air together when they heard a lovely noise! The lovely noise was coing out of a home. Bee said the noise was PARTY noise!!!"

"On Thursday morning at a quarter past ten, Joseph Kaye notices something strange about the teakettle. And so begins a very extraordinary day in which everything around him seems to change." "When he finished school Browne intended to become a painter, but being short of money he took a job as a medical illustrator, drawing the insides of bodies for Manchester Royal Infirmary. After three years he grew tired of the job's repetitiveness and moved on to design greeting cards for Gordon Fraser. He designed cards for fifteen years before he started writing and illustrating his own books. Browne's debut book both as writer and as illustrator was Through the Magic Mirror, published by Hamish Hamilton in 1976. A Walk in the Park followed next year and gained a cult following[citation needed] and Bear Hunt (1979) was more successful commercially. His breakthrough came with Gorilla, published by Julia MacRae in 1983, based on one of his greeting cards. For it he won the Kate Greenaway Medal from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book illustration by a British subject. The book is in Very Good condition and may not have been issued with a dust jacket. The book covers, especially the spine ends and corners have edge wear, bumping and rubbing . The front cover has noticeable light rubbing. The rear cover of the book has several mostly erased, light pencil scribbles. The text pages are generally clean and bright, however, several of the pages do have grubby fingerprints from former readers. Several pages also have some light (and mostly erased) pencil marks where a former owner / artist, wanted to trace lines to see how nicely his drawing was improving. Illustrated throughout with both black and white and full color illustrations. The book includes short stories and poems (only a few have citations) for young folk to enjoy.
