Color Illustrations; This is Howard Pyle's First commissioned book. The book is in Very Good condition and was likely issued without a dust jacket. The covers have pastedown illustrations to both front and rear covers. The illustration on the spine of the book has perished, but the spine is still in solid, original condition. There is edge wear, bumping and rubbing to the spine ends, edges and corners. The text pages are mostly clean and bright. There is a previous owner's gift notation on the front endpaper. This copy includes eight full color illustrated plates and numerous pages of monochrome (blue) illustration. Scarce. "Howard Pyle (March 5, 1853 – November 9, 1911) was an American illustrator and author, primarily of books for young people. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, he spent the last year of his life in Florence, Italy. In 1894 he began teaching illustration at the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry (now Drexel University). After 1900, he founded his own school of art and illustration, named the Howard Pyle School of Illustration Art. The scholar Henry C. Pitz later used the term Brandywine School for the illustration artists and Wyeth family artists of the Brandywine region, several of whom had studied with Pyle."

The text pages are clean and bright. Illustrated throughout with both monochrome illustrations and full color plates by Fusako Huga. There is one professionally repaired tear to the front endpaper and a previous owner's name inked on the copyright page. "Billie and Belinda are budgies, which is a short way to say Melopsittacus undulatus or Budgerigar. Billie, as you can tell by his name, is a boy budgie, and Belinda is a very pretty girl budgie. Bille and Belinda are brother and sister. They live with a very sweet, very old, very rich lady named Mrs. Cecilia Murgatroyd." This book is quite scarce and not much is known about the author with the exception that he might also be the author of the book The World of Japanese Business.

This book is the fourth book written and illustrated by Frank Asch (following George's Store, etc). This book tells the story of a man and his balloon through their adventures together in a book completely without words. Strangely, the balloon is green in color, though the blue might be refering to the balloon's temperament. "Frank Asch (born August 6, 1946 in Somerville, New Jersey) is an American children's writer, best known for his Moonbear picture books. In 1968, Asch published his first picture book, George's Store. The following year he graduated from Cooper Union with a BFA. Since then he has taught at a public school in India, as well as at a Montessori school in the United States, conducted numerous creative workshops for children. He has written over 60 books, including Turtle Tale, Mooncake, I Can Blink and Happy Birthday Moon. In 1989 he wrote Here Comes the Cat! In collaboration with Vladimir Vagin. The book was awarded the Russian National Book Award and was considered the first Russian-American collaboration on a children's book. Asch lived in Somerville, New Jersey."
