The book is in Very Good- condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping and rubbing. There is a smallish tear with fraying to the top spine end. There is some light generalized rubbing to the spine joints and rear cover. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's inked name and date on the half title page. "Publius (or Gaius) Cornelius Tacitus (c. ? 56 – c. ? 120 AD) was a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire. The surviving portions of his two major works—the Annals and the Histories—examine the reigns of the Roman emperors Tiberius, Claudius, Nero, and those who reigned in the Year of the Four Emperors (69 AD). These two works span the history of the Roman Empire from the death of Augustus, in 14 AD, to the years of the First Jewish–Roman War, in 70 AD. There are substantial lacunae in the surviving texts, including a gap in the Annals that is four books long."

This book is in Very Good- condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have edge wear, rubbing, bumping and several small nicks with fraying. The text pages are clean and bright. There is some cracking to the front innner hinge. The map at the front of the book is in Very Good clean condition. B&W Illustrations; This is a Two Volume set. The books are in Very Good- condition and are lacking dust jackets. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some bumping, rubbing, wear and bits of fraying, along with chipping to the spine ends. The covers have spots of rubbing, especially to the foredges, along with spots of discoloration. The text pages are generally clean and bright, but has spots of foxing throughout. Marcus Tullius Cicero (3 January 106 BC – 7 December 43 BC) was a Roman politician and lawyer, who served as consul in the year 63 BC. He came from a wealthy municipal family of the Roman equestrian order, and is considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. His influence on the Latin language was so immense that the subsequent history of prose, not only in Latin but in European languages up to the 19th century, was said to be either a reaction against or a return to his style."

The covers have some light bumping and rubbing. The spine ends have fraying and tears along with noticeable fading to the spines. The rear cover of volume two has noticeable toning / fading and some light spottting. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, but there is some occasional foxing throughout, with most foxing and toning to the illustration pages.There is a previous owner's inked name and address on the front pastedown of all threevolumes, and another separate owner's signature on the front endpaper or front free page of all three volumes.
