Maroon paper covered boards have a gray cloth spine with red gilt lettering to the spine of the book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid gray color. There is a thin black ink remainder mark on the top edge of the text block. There is some spotting to the copyright page which appears to be a problem with the paper (some sort of publishing error). Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Overall, a nice bright copy. "Renowned playwright Harold Pinter has written a superb screenplay from John Fowles best-selling novel of love and transgression in Victorian England, The French Lieutenant's Woman. Pinter's script is not - a mere version of my novel - writes Fowles in his foreword, - but the blueprint of a brilliant metaphor for it - that stands admirably on its own as a skillful, dramatic, and original work.
