B&W Illustrations; The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. Red cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers are a solid cream color. The dust jacket has several edge nicks, tears, chips and bits rubbed and worn. The top spine end of the dust jacket has been chipped off, and there is a smallish chip missing from the bottom front edge of the dust jacket as well. "An appealing young hero, a mythical king, an imaginary dukedom, and a wild and wooly story are the ingredients of this Dickensian mystery by the author of the Wolves of Willoughby Chase. Arriving in London, Simon, a 15-year-old orphan, immediately becomes entangled with a wicked group scheming against good King James and the serenely foggy od Duke and Duchess of Battersea."
