Signed by author on title page and also inscribed on front endpaper: "For Sandy / Bright wishes! / purrrr / purrrr / purrr / peace / joy / love / Ashley Bryan / Feb 88". Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Overall, a nice bright copy. "Uh-huh, it may seem strange, but once upon a time Cat and Rat were the best of friends. Color Illustrations; Children's Book. Sturdy reinforced library binding (but not ex library copy) . Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Illustrated, laminated paper covered boards have blue and red lettering to spine of book (none on front cover). Bottom edge of both front and rear book covers have a small, but noticeable bump (looks as if the book were dropped with a resulting dent). Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid, light yellow color. Black marker remainder mark to bottom edge of text block. There is no price on the dust jacket but in this case, that is due to it being a book for the library market. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Bottom front edge of dust jacket has a two inch long semi-closed edge tear with a tiny nick at the very bottom. Overall, a very good+ copy. "A long time ago - a very long time ago - Thunder and Lightning didn't live in the sky. Uh - uh! They lived right in a village on the west coast of Alkebulan - called Africa today. Thunder was a mother sheep and Lightning was her son. The two often stood at the door of their hut, and people could stop for a chat or wave as they passed by."
