The book is signed in blue ink, with a long inscription on the title page by the son of the author: "Ferdinand! / Those were the days / my friend - we thought / would never end / my very best! / Cappy / 5 / 8 / 93 / Wife Diane" (signed in black ink by Cappy's wife Diane).
