1 Bidney, Martin BLAKE AND GOETHE Pyschology, Ontology, Imagination
Columbia, MO University of Missouri Press 1988 0826206514 / 9780826206510 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket
Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Text pages clean & bright. Previous owner's name inked on the front pastedown page underneath the front dust jacket flap (mostly not visible unless you lift up the flap). Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. There are two small edge tears to top spine end of dust jacket and the shadow of a grease pencil notation right underneath them. Front cover of dust jacket has a rectangular patch of tannish discoloration where a sticker was removed. Overall, a very good+ copy. "This is the first extensive comparitive study of William Blake and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the most ambitious poet-thinkers of the Romantic era. Each apparently unaware of the other's poetic work, Blake and Goethe made strikingly similar personal and literary mental journeys in quest of their goals." Chapters include: Shared Ideas and Myths, Between Selving and Unselving: the Authentic Pulse of Life, Overcoming Negations: Problematics of Imaginative Becoming,Fourfold Visions: Mind-Mapping and the Pulse of Life, The Spirit of Negation: Unselving and Becoming, The Spirit of Meditation, and, Conclusion, New Books of Job.
