New York Oxford University Press 1955 2nd Printing Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket
B&W Illustrations; SIGNED EDITION. This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good- dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. There is one noticeable, wrinkled bump to the bottom front corner of the book cover which also has a smallish split. The text pages are clean and bright. Endpapers are illustrated with maps. The front inside hinge has a beginning split of about two inches in length. Illustrated throughout with both black and white photos and illustrations. Signed by Henry Sell on the half title page: "For my darling Gee Gee / from Hanque Sell / Cody, Wyoming / 1955". The spine ends, corners and edges of the dust jacket have some edge wear, nicking, small chips and tears. The top front corner of the dust jacket by the front flap has a small triangular chip missing and there is a ragged chip missing from the top rear flap joint as well. The bottom front edge of the dust jacket has a tear / split which travels upwards about three inches from the bottom ( which an enterprising former owner has taped over). The reverse of the dust jacket also has some tape reinforcements to the edges from a former owner. The dust jacket shows a fair amount of ground-in dirt. "William F. Cody, the last of the great scouts, master horseman, more picturesque and perfect than Alexander on Bucephalus, as Nate Salsbury billed him, rides again in this first pictorial biography. In fast-moving narrative the authors tell of the fantastic rise and slow decline of Buffalo Bill, who was suddenly thrust into the limelight by his buffalo hunts, became a folk hero as an Indian fighter, and then began a forty year career as super showman." ; Signed by One Author
