Boyer, Richard L. THE GIANT RAT OF SUMATRA A Sherlock Holmes Pastiche New York The Armchair Detective Library 1991 1562870335 / 9781562870331 1st Edition Thus; 1st Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket Originally published in 1976 as a paperback original, this is the first US hardcover edition. Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Black cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid white color. Three of the pages have been dog-eared at the top corner, creasing enough to leave a crease. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. There is a tiny fingernail poke to the top rear spine joint of the dust jacket that is nearly invisible at first glance. Overall, a nice bright copy. "One of the great Sherlock Holmes pastiches of all time returns in a new hardcover edition complete with notes by the author. In this - lost - tale, the world finally learns of the great detective's most difficult and terrifying case. From the teeming streets of Bombay, through the crowded, dangerous docks of London's East End to the quiet countryside of Shropshire on the Welsh border, Holmes tracks down an evil that is stalking the crew of the far eastern steamer ship Matilda Briggs."
