Burgess, Thornton W. A THORNTON BURGESS STORY BOOK Garden City, NY Garden City Books 1950 Trade Edition Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket Illustrated by Nino Carbe Color Illustrations; Children's Book. Sturdy reinforced library binding. Ex Church library copy -- the only library markings are the ink stamped address of the church on the front pastedown and a blue marker inked "PAUC" on the front end paper. Green cloth covered boards have whie and orangy - red lettering to the front cover and white lettering to the spine of the book. There is some wear to the spine joints of the book cover and the cover has some ground-in dirt. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid white color -- the pastedowns (both front and rear) have, for some strange reason noticeably toned / darkened due to acid content of the paper, but not the endpapers except where the stitching is. This volume includes the stories: Unc' Billy Possum, Peter Rabbit's Prank, Everybody Lends Jerry Muskrat a Hand, and, Reddy Fox gets a Bath. Price:

Burgess, Thornton W. MOTHER WEST WIND'S NEIGHBORS New York Grosset & Dunlap 1941 Reprint Hardcover Very Good+ with no dust jacket Illustrated by George Kerr B&W Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Green cloth covered boards have decorations to front cover and spine of book. Lettering on the front cover and spine of the book is black. Covers of book have a bit of very beginning ground-in dirt. Text pages generally clean & bright, though heavily darkened / toned due to the acid content of the paper. Endpapers are fully illustrated in green and white. Book includes three black and white plates (one frontispiece and two plates in the text block by George Kerr). Previous youthful owner's name and address penciled on the half title page (fairly neatly too). Part of the Burgess Quaddie Series. Overall, a very good+ copy. "Johnny Chuck sat in his doorway and watched the world go by. It was a very pleasant world, a very pleasant world indeed, thought Johnny Chuck. Every one was out that pleasant May morning. Burgess, Thornton W. THE ADVENTURES OF POOR MRS. QUACK New york Grosset & Dunlap 1950 Reprint Hardcover Very Good+ with no dust jacket Illustrated by Harrison Cady B&W Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Reddish, open weave style paper covered boards have black lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. The spine of the book has a light slant and there is some light rubbing to both front and rear spine joints. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are illustrated in green and white. The front inside joint has started to crack a bit, but the hinge itself is solid. Overall, a very good+ copy. "It means more knowledge. You cannot meet anyone without learning something from him if you keep your ears open and your eyes open. Everyone is at least a little different from everyone else, and the more people you know, the more you may learn. Peter Rabbit knows this, and that is one reason he always is so eager to find out about other people." Price:
