New York Grosset & Dunlap 1940 Early Reprint Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket
Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Brownish cloth covered boards have blue lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. There is a small thin patch of white discoloration to the bottom front edge of the book cover (looks to be from the reverse of the dust jacket where it got a bit of a waterspot). Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are an off white color and both front and rear pastedowns & endpapers show some sunning. The dust jacket has several small edge tears, nicks and tiny chips. There is a tear to the spine of the dust jacket which is about two inches long --not wide, but a bit jagged. Front dust jacked flap edge has some rubbing and beginning wear. Overall, a very good solid copy. "Desiree la Fond had taken her last bow. She was dead. In full costume, she and Louis Lathrop sat across from each other at dinner and were murdered. Thirty years before she starredin his famous success, - The Girl from Dieppe. - Every year the cast met in the Hotel du Nord. This was to be a dinner party of farewell for them all - but it turned into a party of death for two."
