1 Dillon, Jack THE SPOTTED HORSE
New york Ballantine Books 1956 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good+ dust jacket
This book is part of the Ballantine Books Hardback series, this book was published simultaneously with the paperback and is the First Hardback Edition. The book is in Very Good to Near Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good+ dust jacket. Both the front and rear covers have tape shadows from having the dust jacket taped to the book covers. The text pages are clean and bright. Both front and rear endpapers (and tiny bits of the pastedowns) have dark yellow tape shadows as well. There is a previous owner's embossed name stamp on the title page. The reverse of the rear endpaper has some loss of paper where something was removed from the page The dust jacket is clean and bright, though the spine has faded somewhat. The dust jacket flap has been clipped (at the top and bottom edges) and there is some light wear and nicking to the spine ends and corners of the dust jacket as well. "In the spring of 1841, when he was nineteen years old, Jim Horn went town to Taos, New Mexico, and got into trouble. This is his story - of assorted Utes and Comanches who yeart to lift his hair; of Captain Salazar of the Mexican Army, who planned to finish him, any style." While this author has written three other books beside this western, his profession was in advertising. He started as a copywriter for Doyle Dane Bernbach in Manhattan and over the years continued working his way up the ladder until he finished as Senior Vice President and Creative Manager of the company. His best known advertising campaign was a long-running ad for the Polaroid company featuring James Garner and Mariette Hartley.
