1 Morley, Jim and Doris Foley GOLD CITIES Grass Valley and Nevada City : Being a history and guide to the adventuresome past of two picturesque cities of the California Gold Country
Berkeley, CA Howell-North Books 1965 1st Edition; 1st Edition Hardcover Very Good in Good+ dust jacket Illustrated by Jim Morley
B&W Photographs; Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Orange / yellow cloth covered boards have maroonish lettering to spine and front cover of book. Text pages clean & bright. Endpapers are full-sized photographs of scenic places in the Grass Valley area. Front endpaper has a bit of light rubbing to top edge. Spine ends and corners of dust jacket have some light bumping, rubbing & several chips along with some nicking, small edge tears and general edge wear. There is one two inch long triangular-ish chip missing from top edge of rear dust jacket and a couple of small chips missing from bottom edge of dust jacket. Overall, a very good copy. --Time and the depletion of the gold mines took a heavy enough toll of these picturesque and storied cities. When Jim Morley heard of the impending Freeway plan which might obliterate many an historic shrine in the area, he took up his camera to record what he could. Fortunately, with his talent for timeless photographs and the help of Doris Foley to tell the stories belonging with them, this book has emerged, and it is a fitting tribute to these historically important cities--.
