Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Light purple / blue cloth covered boards have silver gilt lettering to spine. Spine of book has a very slight slant. Bottom spine end of book cover has a bit of very light, but noticeable bumping. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid buff color. Both front and rear endpapers have toning to the portion of the page where the dust jacket sits (it looks as if the purple color on the dust jacket reacted somehow with the paper used for the endpapers. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. There is a bit of light rubbing to top front corner and front flap joint along with small spots of rubbing to top rear spine joint & bottom rear spine joint. Overall, a nice bright copy. "Was Sanctuary really a - cheap idea, - as Faulkner himself called it, a book - deliberately conceived to make money -? The quesiton has teased the reading public for forty years. Many readers have had their worse suspicions confirmed by his statement, but most serious critics have discounted the disparagement, emphasizing instead Faulkner's further statement that when the galley proofs arrived from his publisher, - I saw that it was so terrible that there were two things to do: tear it up or rewrite it."
