B&W Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping, rubbing & edge wear. Green cloth covered boards have lettering and decorations outlined in black. Front cover of book has a rectangular pastedown illustration of Doctor Doolittle riding an enormous odd-looking bug. Bottom spine end of book cover, along with bottom corners of book cover have some beginning fraying abnd wear. Spine of book cover has a slight slant from being read. Covers of book have a bit of beginning toning along with a bit of very beginning ground-in dirt. Text pages generally clean & bright, with a few stray fingermarks from being read. Endpapers are fully illustrated in color by the author. Front free page has a neatly inked previous owner's name. Title page has some light foxing. Frontispiece has the same illustration (in color) as the front cover pastedown with a tissue guard that has noticeable foxing and toning. All edges of the text block have some darkening / toning. Overall, a very good to just under very good+ copy. "I suppose there is no part of my life with the Doctor that I, Thomas Stubbins, look back on with more pleasure than that period when I was Assistant Manager of the Zoo. We had come, as I have told you elsewhere, to call that part of the Doctor's garden - Animal Town. - One of my greatest difficulties was in keeping down the membership in the various clubs and institutions."
