1 Jones, James A TOUCH OF DANGER
New York Doubleday & Company, Inc. 1973 0385047002 / 9780385047005 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Fine in Near Fine dust jacket
The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. Maroon cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers are illustrated with maps. The dust jacket has several tiny nicks to the top spine end and some beginning rubbing to the spine ends and corners, otherwise the dust jacket is crisp and clean. "An American private eye operating abroad. Lobo works by intuition as much as he does by logic. He has reached an age (50) where his profession is no longer as easy for him as it once was. So his age is against him, too. But he won't give up on that point either. In spinte of it, he is a tough hombre, a tough professional with a sensitive side which he successfully conceals. Lobo's also a WASP, and not ashamed of it. His first European adventure takes place on a Greek island, unbelievably beautiful, very believably dangerous. But, Lobo is a guy who runs toward danger, not away from it."

2 Jones, James THE PISTOL A Novel
New York Charles Scribner's Sons 1958 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket
The spine ends and corners of the book cover have a bit of very light bumping and rubbing. Red cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. There is some beginning rubbing and bumping to the spine ends and corners of the book cover. The top rear corner of the book cover has one light bump. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers are a solid off white color and both front and rear covers have some beginning toning / foxing. The edges of the text block have some beginning spotting. The edges of the dust jacket have some rubbing, bumping and lightish edge wear. The bottom spine end of the dust jacket has one inch tears to both front and rear spine joints along with some light rubbing and nicking to the spine end. The top spine end has some lightish edge wear and nicking. There is some rubbing to the flap joints as well. The rear dust jacket cover has some lightly ground-in dirt. (I hate to use the cliche here, but it actually looks better than it sounds). Overall, a very good+ solid copy. "Pfc. Richard Mast does manage to keep the pistol assigned to him for guard duty, and the struggle around it provides the pathos, savagery, and humor of the story. In the chaos of those first days and weeks of war, as Mast and his companions move from Schofield Barracks to the beaches of Oahu, then to a remote mountain pass, the pistol dominates the action."
