Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of extremely light bumping and rubbing. Black cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine. The text pages are clean & bright. There is a light water stain to the bottom corner of the text pages (more noticeable at the rear of the text -as waviness with a very slight color change). The endpapers are a solid white color. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. The dust jacket has a couple of very small edge nicks and beginning edge tears. There is some light rubbing and edge wear to the bottom edges of the dust jacket (more to the front than the rear). Overall, a nice clean solid copy. "Lieutenant Colonel A. Tack Always finds himself in the California high desert, alone, disheveled, confused. A guide soon appears to inform him of his situation: he had died and now is in Purgatory (his humility in the Army was somewhat lacking) where he must atone for past sins. Purgatory is, aptly, the U.S. Army's National Training Center (NTC), and Lt. Col. Always may earn his way out by completing a successful mission."
