Burt 1898 Reprint Hardcover Very Good+ with no dust jacket Illustrated by J. Watson Davis B&W Illustrations; The spine ends and corners of the book covers have a bit of very light bumping and rubbing. Blue cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. Both spine and front cover are decorated with pictures of soldiers firing muskets. Spine ends of book cover have some light rubbing and bumping and very beginning fraying. Gilded lettering is in very nice bright, unrubbed condition. The text pages are clean and bright. Inside front joint has cracked and been carefully repaired. Included are eight black and white full page illustrations by J. Watson Davis. All edges of text block are stained a dark green.(done by the publisher). Overall, a very good+ copy of a difficult book to find. "It was on the day after the redcoats went out to Concord and were very glad to be able to get back again, that I first met old Simon Fletcher, who lived in Battery Alley near Burrough's Wharf, which last, as you may know, is near to the shipyard owned by Masters Grant and Greenwood." The spine ends of the book cover have some light rubbing and beginning fraying. Two inches worth of the inside front joint has cracked and been carefully repaired. Included are eight black and white full page illustrations by J. Watson Davis. There is a long presentation notation (for Sunday School) on the front endpaper dated 1904.
