B&W Illustrations; Ths is an early printing of the expanded version of the poem -- this published under the Bobbs-Merrill company statement, not Bowen-Merrill Co. The book is in Very Good condition. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition with green cloth covered boards, gilt lettering to the spine and front cover and green and orange decorations to both the spine and front cover. There is an oval pictorial pastedown illustration on the front cover which has some beginning rubbing and edge wear. There are several very small spots with beginning fraying to the edges of the book cover. The text pages are clean and bright . The endpapers are illustrated in pinkish - red. Illustrated throughout with nineteen black and white plates by Howard Chandler Christy, with decorations (in pinkish red) by Virginia Keep. The bottom corner of the rear pastedown page has been pulled leaving a triangular section (approximately four inches long by three inches tall by two+ inches deep) with the colored decoration removed (the top layer of paper with the decorations is pulled off, leaving the bottom layer visible). The book actually sounds worse than it looks and could be listed as near Very Good+ condition. "An Old Sweetheart of Mine! Is this her presence here with me, or but a vain creation of a lover's memory?"
