Robinson, Mabel L. ROBIN AND ANGUS New York Macmillan 1931 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good+ with no dust jacket Illustrated by Eloise Burns Wilkins B&W Illustrations; Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Green cloth covered boards have black lettering to the spine and front cover. There is a light slant to the spine of the book. Top front edge of the book has a light dent to it. Spine of book shows some darkening / sunning. Text pages are clean & bright (though with a couple of stray spots of foxing). Endpapers are a solid white color. Edges of text block, especially top edge, have some darkening / toning & small generalized spots of foxing. Title page and reverse of front endpaper also have some patches of foxing. Illustrated with one color frontispiece and five (or six depending on how you count them) black and white illustrations by Eloise Burns Wilkin --best known as Eloise Wilkin. This book contains some of the earliest published illustration work done by Wilkin (one other previous title is Robin and Tito, published in 1930). Overall, a nice clean, bright copy in better condition than it sounds. "Robin never had liked the railroad station in Florence, and this morning, after a night in the sleeper, its noise and damp sooty smell made it a dismal place. Outside the city from the car window she had seen the early sunshine, flat and gold, lying on the housetops. She had felt the breathless leap of heart that Florence always gave her." Price:

Robinson, Mabel L. ROBIN AND TITO New york Macmillan 1930 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good+ with no dust jacket Illustrated by Eloise Burns (Wilkins) B&W Illustrations; Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Red cloth covered boards have black lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. There is a light slant to the spine of the book (most likely from being placed awkwardly on a shelf for a time). Text pages are clean & bright. Top edge of text block has noticable darkening / toning along with some lightly ground-in dirt and some foxing (small spots over the whole top edge). The bottom edge of the text block has one blobby spot of darkening / foxing by the spine of the book and the foredge of the text block has started to tone just a bit (truly sounds worse than it looks). Endpapers are a solid white color. Illustrated with one color frontispiece and four black and white illstrations by Eloise Burns (later Wilkin). This is a very early example of her art and possibly done before she left art school. Overall, a very nice clean, bright copy. "Robin had stared over the garden wall at the blue sea until she could not tell it from the blue, hot sky. Blue and hot and shining! When she threw herself down in the green shade of the olive tree, the rest of the garden looked dark as the house used to look at home when she went out of the glare of the sunlit snow." Price:
