Winston Company 1948 Trade Edition Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket Illustrated by Maud and Miska Petersham Color Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping, rubbing & edge wear. Blue paper covered boards have a square pictorial pastedown on the front cover. Spine ends and corners have som noticeable rubbing. Rear cover of book has several small spots and there is some lightish bowing to covers (mostly rear cover). Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid off-white color (there is some toning due to acid content of paper). Previous owner's name penciled on front endpaper at the top edge. Illustrated throughout in alternating pages of duo-tone (gold and black) and full color, this story book gives a basic look at gold, it's discovery, processing and uses. Overall, a very good+ copy. "Once, long ago in the time of the cave men, a little girl went walking with her father. They came to a stream and were wading across it when the little girl saw something shining among the pebbles. Illustrated throughout in alternating pages of duo-tone (brown and black) and full color, this story book gives a basic look at silk, it's discovery, processing and uses. Overall, a very good copy. Illustrated throughout with both black and white (with blue additions) and full color by Maud and Miska Petersham. The dust jacket has several edge tears, nicks and edge wear, along with chips missing from the top and bottom spine ends and bottom rear flap joint. There is some noticeable toning to the spine and edges of the dust jacket.
