1 McGinley, Phyllis MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR
New York Viking Press 1958 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Fine in Near Fine dust jacket Illustrated by Ilonka Karasz
Color Illustrations; This book is in Fine condition and has a Near Fine dust jacket. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket is clean and bright with the exception of some beginning toning to the white portions (especially the spine). The dust jacket has been price clipped and there is one very small nick / tear to the bottom rear edge. "This is Phyllis McGinley's personal Christmas greeting to everybody - an enchanting collection of her poems appropriate to the Yuletide season, plus a choice prose piece on a New Year with No Resolutions (Nothing can possibly get a decent start in the depths of winter except a nasty, nagging cold)."

2 McGinley, Phyllis MINCE PIE AND MISTLETOE
Philadelphia, PA J. B. Lippincott Company 1961 0397305745 / 9780397305742 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket Illustrated by Harold Berson
Color Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Blue cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine and a gilt decoration to the front cover of the book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a medium tan color. Illustrated throughout by Harold Berson in blue and tan colors. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. Bottom corner of front flap has been clipped (but not price clipped as the price is at the top corner). Rear cover of dust jacket has several small spots of biopredation (bug nibbles) which have left a couple of very small holes & a bit of color loss to the paper by the spine joint. Bottom spine edge of dust jacket is missing a smallish chip. Front cover of dust jacket has a broken line of some black inky substance (actually, on first glance, it blends in a bit with the illustration, it's just on closer inspection that you see the line for what it is). Overall, a very good clean copy. "Did you know that the Yule log, carols, flaming pudding and other gay customs came to Virginia long ago from England? The Spanish brought their own special ways of celebrating Christmas to our West and Southwest. Of course, the Dutch brought to New Amsterdam Saint Nicholas who was become our Santa Claus. To Louisiana the French brought Papa Noel. These are some of the countries which have given us customs that we have made our own."
