B&W Illustrations; Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of very light bumping and rubbing. Blue paper covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. Text pages are clean & bright. There are a couple of small spots of discoloration / toning to the title page and the front endpapers and some light toning to the rear endpapers. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Dust jacket edges (especially the top edge , all the way around ) have noticeable yellowing / toning. Overall, a very nice clean, bright copy. "Shel Silverstein has been delighting vast numbers of American children and parents with the most exhilarating nonsense for nearly twenty years and it is a curious fact - at last being remedied - that he has never before been published in Britain."

B&W Illustrations; This copy is an early printing of the First Edition - possibly a 1st printing, but it's impossible to verify without the dust jacket. One of the earliest of Shel Silverstein's books for children. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. Illustrated, white glazed paper covered boards have black and red lettering to the front cover and a black cloth spine. The bottom edge of the book cover has some edge wear, bumping and a couple of small nicks / beginning paper loss to the corners. There is some beginning fraying to both the spine ends of the book cover. The white covers of the book have several spots of ground-in dirt. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a small inked baby Fozzie Bear (from Sesame Street) on the bottom corner of the front endpaper, and a former owner's inked name on the front pastedown page. This book is actually quite hard to find in this original format. "If you had a giraffe and he stretched another half you would have a giraffe and a half."

B&W Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Light brown / tannish cloth covered boards have black lettering to the spine of the book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid off-white color. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Top rear flap joint of dust jacket has a small tear. Overall, a nice bright copy. "Come in... for where the sidewalk ends, Shel Silverstein's world begins. You'll meet a boy who turns into a TV set, and a girl who eats a whale. The Unicorn and the Bloath live there, and so does Sarah Cynthia Syliva Stout who will not take the garbage out."

B&W Illustrations; The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. Tan paper covered boards have a yellowish cloth spine with black lettering. The text pages are clean and bright. A previous owner has inked Christmas 1989 on the front endpaper. There is a previous owner's book plate on the front pastedown page (mostly hidden by the dust jacket flap). The dust jacket has some very light edge wear and one small spot on the bottom front flap joint where the laminate has pushed up slightly. The dust jacket is price clipped. There is a two inch strip of fading to the rear spine joint from sunning. "Looking for a new pet? Bored with cats, dogs, goldfish, gerbils and hamsters? How about a cheap rhinoceros?
