New york Duell, Sloan & Pearce 1942 3rd Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket Illustrated by William Steig
B&W Illustrations; Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Gray paper covered boards have black lettering to spine and black lettering & decoration to front cover of book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid white color. Previous owner's name inked neatly on front pastedown. This edition states First edition on the copyright page, however, the dust jacket notes that this is the "3rd large printing" and there are reviews on the rear flap -- leading me to believe that the First Edition statement is incorrect & this is indeed a third printing. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Dust jacket has been price clipped. Spine of dust jacket has some lightish toning which wraps around both spine joints . There is also a small spot of darkening to the front dust jacket by the author's name. The top edge of the front dust jacket has one tiny nick. This copy includes an introduction by Wolcott Gibbs. Overall, a nice bright copy. "In The Lonely ONes Mr. Steig offers us a series of impressions of people who have been set off from the rest of the world by certain private obsessions - usually, it seems, by a devotion to some particularly disastrous cliche of thought or behavior. "

Color Illustrations; Children's Book. Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Light green paper covered boards have a purple paper spine with silver gilt lettering. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid blue color. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. Front top edge of dust jacket has one small semi-closed edge tear. Top rear edge of dust jacket has a two inch long wrinkled edge tear right at top rear spine joint. Bottom rear edge of dust jacket has a small edge tear with some wrinkling. Overall, a very good+ copy. "Wizzil is bored stiff. So with a little coaxing from Beatrice, her parrot, she turns herself into a common housefly and heads on over to Frimp farm to stir up some trouble."
