This copy has an ink stamped signature and inscription of the author on the half title page. This self-published volume contains a series of quatrain style poems all written in Portuguese. Arthur Avila was born in 1888 and immigrated to the United States in the early 1900's. He and his brother João founded the Latin-American Broadcasting Company in the 1930's and ran the first daily Portuguese radio show in California. He delved into Newspaper publishing and editing and was an important person in the Bay Area's Portuguese community. This book was written shortly before his death in 1962. There are only six copies of this book listed in Worldcat.

The rear panel shows several small spots of foxing. "Blanding became fascinated by Hawaii and moved there in 1915, staying until his enlistment in the U. S. Army in December, 1917. Entering as an infantry private, he underwent officer training and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant before being discharged in December, 1918, soon after the Armistice. Blanding pursued further art studies in 1920, in Paris and London, traveled in Central America and the Yucatan, and returned to Honolulu in 1921. Finding work as an artist in an advertising agency, he happened into two years of writing poems published daily in the Honolulu Star Bulletin for an advertiser. These featured local people and events, and became well-known and popular – whether because of or in spite of always mentioning the Aji-No-Moto brand of MSG."

She was described in 1916 as “one of the strong figures among the young moderns” and later as “a crusader for the modern movement. ” She had numerous solo exhibitions, including one at Arlington Galleries in New York in 1917. After developing leukemia in about 1921, she gave up painting and wrote poetry." This set of books was published in tribute to his cousin (Anne Bremer) by Albert M. Bender: "Albert M. Bender (1866–1941) was a leading patron of the arts in San Francisco in the 1920s and 1930s, who played a key role in the early career of Ansel Adams and was one of Diego Rivera's first American patrons. By providing financial assistance to artists, writers and institutions he had a significant impact on the cultural development of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. "
