"This collection of minority folk poems was made in 1962, but due to the cultural revolution, was not published. The tendency amongst the ultra left after 1966 was to deny differences between peoples and simply say that as all in China were Chinese, there should be but one culture, that of Han. This highly idealistic conception, so very far from reality, did not take strong hold, though it had many bad effects which are now being rectified."
