" (1934-2010) US bibliographer and book editor, trained as a librarian, who received a Pilgrim Award in 1982 for his work; he has produced some of the liveliest and most readable scholarship in sf, notably in the five well-researched editions of Anatomy of Wonder: Science Fiction (1976; exp vt Anatomy of Wonder: A Critical Guide to Science Fiction: Second Edition 1981; further exp vt Anatomy of Wonder: A Critical Guide to Science Fiction: Third Edition 1987; further exp vt Anatomy of Wonder 4 1995; further exp vt Anatomy of Wonder: A Critical Guide to Science Fiction: Fifth Edition 2004) , which he edited and to which he contributed. These volumes discuss many individual books, both fiction (including foreign-language) and secondary literature; while losing a few titles with each reiteration, successive editions have sophisticated the annotated lists that are central to the enterprise, and which take up most of the space of each volume. The fifth edition, where most fiction has been coordinated into one list containing 1418 titles, is the most convenient of all to use. Barron retired from writing after the publication of this final edition. Earlier, working again as both editor and contributor, he also undertook a similar coverage of the vast literatures of fantasy and horror in Fantasy Literature: A Reader's Guide (1990) and Horror Literature: A Reader's Guide (1990) , which were amalgamated into Fantasy and Horror: A Critical and Historical Guide to Literature, Illustration, Film, TV, Radio, and the Internet (rev vt as omni 1999). These various compilations, in their constantly evolving iterations, constitute his main life work."

There are several spots of fraying to the spine ends and corners as well. Brant, the Music Director of the San Jose Symphonic Choir and Founder of the San Jose Municipal Chorus. There is another hand inked name on the title page which appears contemporary to the book - First name William. The last name is difficult to read. "...the Senate have accordingly formed some rules for its own government: but those going only to few cases, they have referred to the decision of their President, without debateand without appeal, all questions of order arising either under their own rules, or, where they have provided none." "Manual of Parliamentary Practice for the Use of the Senate of the United States, written by Thomas Jefferson in 1801, is the first American book on parliamentary procedure." "The Senate traditionally has not considered Jefferson's Manual of Parliamentary Practice to be its direct authority on parliamentary procedure. However, starting in 1828 the Senate began publishing a version of Jefferson's Manual for their use, removing the Senate Rules from within the text and placing them in a separate section. In 1888, when the Senate initiated publication of the Senate Manual, a copy of Jefferson's Manual was included in each biennial edition. This practice continued until 1977."

He edited Science-Fiction Plus, a short-lived genre magazine owned by Hugo Gernsback, in 1953. He compiled about two dozen anthologies, and a few single-author collections, most published in the 1960s and early 1970s. Moskowitz also wrote a handful of short stories (three published in 1941, one in 1953, three in 1956). His most enduring work is likely to be his writing on the history of science fiction, in particular two collections of short author biographies, Explorers of the Infinite and Seekers of Tomorrow, as well as the highly regarded Under the Moons of Mars: A History and Anthology of “The Scientific Romance” in the Munsey Magazines, 1912-1920. His exhaustive cataloging of early sf magazine stories by important genre authors remains the best resource for nonspecialists." "Munsey's Weekly, later known as Munsey's Magazine, was a 36-page quarto American magazine founded by Frank A. Munsey in 1889 and edited by John Kendrick Bangs. It is credited with being the first mass-market magazine. Frank Munsey aimed to publish "a magazine of the people and for the people, with pictures and art and good cheer and human interest throughout". Soon after its inception, the magazine was selling 40,000 copies a week. In 1891, Munsey's Weekly adopted a monthly schedule and was renamed Munsey's Magazine."

The Ellesmere Manuscript Of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, Schulz, Herbert C. (Curator Of Manuscripts)
14 Schulz, Herbert C. (Curator Of Manuscripts) The Ellesmere Manuscript Of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
San Marino, CA Huntington Library 1966 1st Edition; 1st Printing Booklet Very Good+
Color Illustrations; This is a trade sized booklet with heavy cardstock covers and a stapled spine. The booklet is in Very Good+ condition and was issued without a dust jacket. There is some beginning edge wear and bumping to the spine ends and corners of the covers. The text pages are clean and bright. "The Ellesmere Chaucer, or Ellesmere Manuscript of the Canterbury Tales, is an early 15th-century illuminated manuscript of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, owned by the Huntington Library, in San Marino, California (EL 26 C 9). It is considered one of the most significant copies of the Tales. Written most likely in the first or second decade of the fifteenth century, the early history of the manuscript is uncertain, but it seems to have been owned by John de Vere, 12th Earl of Oxford (1408–1462). The manuscript takes its popular name from the fact that it later belonged to Sir Thomas Egerton (1540–1617) , Baron Ellesmere and Viscount Brackley, who apparently obtained it from Roger North, 2nd Baron North (1530/31-1600). [1] The library of manuscripts, known as the Bridgewater Library, remained at the Egerton house, Ashridge, Hertfordshire, until 1802 when it was removed to London. Francis Egerton, created Earl of Ellesmere in 1846, inherited the library, and it remained in the family until its sale to Henry Huntington by John Francis Granville Scrope Egerton (1872–1944) , 4th Earl of Ellesmere. Huntington purchased the Bridgewater library privately in 1917 through Sotheby's. The manuscript is now in the collection of the Huntington Library in San Marino, California (EL 26 C 9)."
