Wright, Harold Bell MA CINDERELLA New York Harper & Brothers 1932 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good- with no dust jacket; Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Maroon colored cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to spine and front cover of book. There is one very small tear / frayed spot to top spine end of bookcover right at rear joint. Gilding on spine of book is somewhat dull, however, there is no rubbing or flaking to it. Text pages clean & bright. Book includes a full color frontispiece (illustrator difficult to decipher but looks like Pitz is the last name). Front edge of book has one small spot of dark discoloration. Overall, a very good copy of one of Harold Bell Wright's more difficult titles to find in trade (especially First edition). --This story happened in the Ozark Mountains, not many years ago. The Ozarks, as you no doubt know, are in Southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. The neighborhood of the story is not far from the boundary line which separates the two states; but for reasons which you will understand later I shall not say on which side of the line--.; S. Illustrated, coated paper covered boards have white lettering to front cover and spine of book. Text pages clean & bright. Text includes several black and white photo illustrated depictions of the story -- this particular edition was produced by The Shepherd of the Hills Historical Society which puts on a play of the story at Branson MO and the photographs are stills from the play. --This, my story, is a very old story. Burt Company 1911 Reprint Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket; Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Green cloth covered boards with black lettering to spine and front cover and a small oval pictorial pastedown to front cover (cameo of a woman). Spine of book shows a bit darkening and a couple of small spots of dirt. Front cover of book has one small bump with some ground-in dirt. Cameo is in nice clean, bright condition without rubbing. Text pages generally clean & bright though there are several pages which have some light spotting. Book includes a black and white frontispiece and three black and white plates in the text block. Overall, a very good copy. --While this story is not in any way a history of this part of the Colorado Desert now known as the Imperial Valley, nor a biography of anyone connected with this splendid achievement, I must in honesty admit that this work which in the past ten years has transformed a vast, desolate waste into a beautiful land of homes, cities, and farms, has been my inspiration--. ; S.
