Laumer, Keith RETIEFS RANSOM New York Putnam Pub Group 1971 1st Edition; 1st Printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket; Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Black paper covered boards have red lettering to spine of book. Corners of both front and rear inside hinges have some light water spotting. Front inner hinge spotting is quite small, however the spotting to the rear inner is a little bit more extensive with a small irregular shaped strip of light tan which travels from bottom edge of rear pastedown across the hinge to the rear endpaper (it covers approximately two inches width total). The spotting does not travel through to any of the inner pages. Text pages are clean & bright with the exception of a light strip of red color to reverse of front endpaper. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. There is a very small mostly closed edge tear to bottom spine end of dust jacket at front spine joint along with some rubbing to shiny black paper (most notably to spine joints and two small spots ... one to bottom spine end and the other to a very small spot by title on front dust jacket cover). Rear endpaper has some wrinkling and water spotting. Reverse of dust jacket shows the damage more fully than front of dust jacket. There is water spotting to approximately one-third of the reverse of the rear cover of the dust jacket. Overall, a very good copy and actually, the book appears in better condition than the description makes it out. "LUmbaga was not the galaxy's most desirable planet. the inhabitants were virtually immortal, hopelessly eccentric, conglmoerations of free-living organs, whose sole hobby was mayhem, individual or in groups. But even the most obscure chunk of galactic real estate attracts its quota of rival overlords, and Lumbaga, unpromising as it seemed, was a bone of contention between Terra and Groac." ; S.
