Orangish cloth covered boards have black lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. There is one very small spot of dirt ot front cover of book. Text pages are generally clean & bright-though somewhat darkened due to acid content of paper. Page 269 has one small tear to top edge of page (the pages are becoming brittle due to deterioration). Price sticker on front endpaper which I hesitate to remove. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping, rubbing & edge wear. Dust jacket has several small edge tears, nicks and beginning rubbing. Top spine end of dust jacket has one small semi-circular chip missing. Spine of dust jacket shows some beginning darkening due to sunning. "The papers announced the death of Fremont C. Sabin, eccentric retired millionaire. His body had been found in his mountain cabin. Death had been caused by a bullet from an ancient derringer which was also in the cabin, but from which all fingerprints had been carefully wiped. Also in the room was Sabin's pet parrot, very much alive and screaming for food."
