Author Name Hemyng, Bracebridge Title JACK HARKAWAY IN AUSTRALIA Jack Harkaway and his Son's Adventures in Australia Binding Hardcover Book Condition Very Good- with no dust jacket Edition Edition Unknown Publisher Chicago, IL M. A. Donohue N.D. Seller ID 15907 B&W Illustrations; Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping, rubbing & edge wear. Green cloth covered boards with black lettering to front cover and spine of book. Top spine end of book cover has some beginning fraying to top front spine joint. There is a bit of light edge wear and dirt to covers. Text pages clean & bright. Previous owner's name and date pencilled on front endpaper along with an ink stamped name and address. Title page states Book number Thirteen...possibly in this series (there are other titles available so it makes sense). Front edge of book has several very small brown spots of discoloration. Overall, a very good- copy. At this point I am assuming that this is some sort of reprint / pirated edition of a British or Australian book, but I have no true information one way or another. There are five black & white plates within the text, several of them show Australian convicts, several others show -Africans / Aboriginies / Darkies (sorry)- of some sort, though there is no real explanation of their position. --When all was landed, the sailors who had rowed Hunston ashore got back into their boat. -Good-by, Hunston,- Said Sam Mason; -you're a gallus black-hearted swab, but I hope you'll mend your ways and do well. Remember your old friends on board...--
