Ten Volume set. All ten volumes are bound in black cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to spines. Overall condition is very good with a bit of light bumping to corners and some spots of discoloration to covers, but generally clean and without much in the way of wear. Volume two does have some red paint-like substance on the rear cover. Volume three has a broken front inner hinge but the binding is nice and tight and the book is otherwise in very good condition. Volume Six has a cracked rear inner hinge. Text pages generally clean & bright--I did see a few minor pencilled marginal notes (very few). Previous owner's name inked on front endpaper of each volume. There is a bit of very beginning foxing to some text pages. Overall, a very good set. --That the Word of the Old Testament includes arcana of heaven, and that all its contents, to ever particular, regard the Lord, his heaven, the church, faith, and the things relating to faith, no man can conceive who only views it from the letter. For the letter, or literal sense, suggests only such things as respect the externals of the Jewish church, when, nevertheless, it everywhere contains internal things, which do no in the least appear in thos externals, except in a very few cases, where the Lord revealed and unfolded them to the apostles -as that sacrifices are significative of the Lord -and that the land of Canaan and Jerusalem are significative of heaven, on which account they are called the heavenly Canaan and Jerusalem - and that Paradise has a like signification--. Translated from the Latin.
