Author Name Cather, Willa (Willa Sibert) Title A LOST LADY Binding Hardcover Book Condition Very Good with no dust jacket Edition 1st Trade Edition; 1st Printing Publisher New York Alfred A. Knopf 1923 ISBN Number 0803214278 / 9780803214279 Seller ID 17880 First Trade edition, first printing, First binding issue in light green cloth with gilt lettering to front cover and spine of book ( with title listed over author on spine of book). Covers of book have light bumping and edge wear (with one tiny spot of fraying to top spine end). Covers of book have some light dirt and spotting. Spine of book is lightly, but noticeably darkened due to sunning and there is a small, thin drip / spot towards top edge. Gilt lettering to spine is starting to fade slightly. Text pages generally clean & bright. Endpapers are illustrated with a filligree pattern of green over purple pages and looks very decorative. Previous owner's name inked, then crossed out in pen at the top of the front endpaper. This edition follows Ahearns 12d (a) information for first state with the spine title over the author's name and the correctly printed "of " on page 1974:19. Overall, a very good copy. Dedication page is uncut at bottom edge (though the rest of the book is open). "Thirty or forty years ago, in one of those grey towns along the Burlington railroad, which are so much greyer today than they were then, there was a house well known from Omaha to Denver for its hospitality and for a certain charm of atmosphere. Well known, that is to say, to the railroad aristocracy of that time."
