B&W Illustrations; Children's Book. Possible first edition -- there is the Scribner's seal on the bottom of the copyright page, however, there is no letter / number combination on copyright page at all (this being a children's book, some of the niceties found with adult books were let slide a bit). Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Blue cloth covered boards have dark blue lettering to front cover and spine of book. Bottom spine end of book cover has a bit of beginning rubbing. There is a very slight rearward slant to spine of book. Text pages are clean & bright. Half-title page has two very small spots of fuzziness where some paper was lifted off (probably a sticker). Endpapers are fully illustrated. Previous owner's bookplate (fully illustrated in color & rather nice) pasted to front pastedown page. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. Dust jacket has several small to smallish edge tears, some noticeable rubbing and there is some noticeable sunning to rear dust jacket and front flap joint of dust jacket. Dust jacket has been price clipped. Top rear edge of dust jacket has one smallish triangular chip missing. overall, a very good+ copy. "When Spinney and Spike found that their father, Captain Henley, could not get home on leave it seemed to be a real tragedy. But it turned out quite otherwise, for they went out to Blaine Field where he was stationed. There they saw what an Army Air Corps station is like, and sawll all types of planes including the big new bomber, the B-29 Super-Fortress." Written at the height of the Second World War, this book is obviously a propaganda item to highlight the new aviation innovations and also to stir up patriotic pride in the Army Air Corps.
