This book is in Good+ to Near Very Good- condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The leather spine has edge wear, rubbing and chips missing. The front spine joint has cracked three-quarters of the joint (from bottom towards the top). The leather is also rubbed at the extremities and the leather is somewhat dry. The cloth covered boards are generally clean and bright, but has rubbing and some loss of cloth to the front cover by the spine joint. The text pages are mostly clean, but lightly toned throughout. There is an ink stamped previous owner's name and address on the front pastedown. "Caspar Thomas Hopkins (May 18, 1826 October 4, 1893) was an early settler of what is now Fruitvale. He formed the Sausal Creek Water Company which built a dam and reservoir at the upper end of Dimond Canyon near where Highway 13 is now. The reservoir later became part of the East Bay Water Company and remained until the early 1920s. Hopkins' main business was insurance, and was president of the California Insurance Company; Samuel Merritt was the vice-president." This book contains ".
