World War II Army Letter Describing The Battle Of The Philippine Sea

By: (Ephemera) [World War Ii] [Pacific Theatre]

Price: $75.00

Quantity: 1 available

Book Condition: Very Good

Six page letter dated 11-19-44: Philippines (six leaves, handwritten on the rectos only). The pages are noticeably toned and there are several edge nicks and tears. The letter is written on official United States Army letterhead. There are official censor punches to the top left corner of each page. The author was a combatant in the Battle of the Philippine Sea -- more colloquially known as The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. The author gives a very light hearted, but considerably detailed (especially considering it had to pass the censors) description of his part of the battle, along with an overview of the battle as a whole.
